Lindfield |
This is one of the prettiest villages in the county. It won the Best Kept Village competition so many times it had to stop entering in order to give other villages a chance! Lindfield has a long High Street lined with wonderful houses many of which date back many hundreds of years. |
The High Street runs from the Common where many activities (including, of course, cricket) happen past the pond and up to the Church. The grass verges are a blaze of colour in the spring when the crocuses pop their heads through! |
Artists are common sights in the village, painting everything from the picturesque pond up the the wonderful old cottages and houses. |
Lindfield is famous for its great Bonfire Celebrations each year when a procession of people with lighted torches parade around the whole village prior to the ritual lighting of the bonfire and a great firework display. For further details look at our Haywards Heath site! |
Sheffield Park |
- Location
This glorious garden lies seven miles to the east of Lindfield
Designed by
Capability Brown, the gardens and lakes are a pure delight at all times of the year. Owned by the National Trust - Open all year. |
We recommend it particularly during the autumn when the colours are magnificent. Nearby lies the Bluebell Railway which is run by steam enthusiasts and runs all year though with a more restricted timetable during the winter months. |
