| The Isle of Wight An introduction to the delights of the island.
The Isle of Wight is full of interesting places to see and explore. This site attempts to give you, the visitor, a flavour, to encourage you to visit and explore for yourself. The coastline varies from soft sandy bays to high chalk cliffs and narrow ravines or 'chines'. River inlets afford safe moorings for small craft. All may be explored via the coastal footpath that encircles the island. Although only 23 miles long and 12 miles wide the Isle of Wight has something for everybody. Sandy beaches for the kids (and Grandma), breezy cliff tops for those that like an invigorating walk and gardens, houses, castles, churches, Roman villa etc... for those who just want to be! And I haven't even mentioned the quiet strolls alongside the pretty creeks nor the world famous yachting! |
